Here is a list counting down the Top 32 Washington Redskins of 2014 – No. 16

16.  Andre Roberts – wide receiver

Age 26, 5-11, 195 pounds

Analysis: The Redskins needed to upgrade their wide receiving unit this season, and Andre Roberts was one of the first free agents they targeted to make that happen.  They signed Roberts to a four-year deal and the initial expectation was that Roberts would line up across from Pierre Garcon and become the number two receiver on offense.

Roberts has experience as a starter for the Arizona Cardinals, and he can play out wide and in the slot as well. So his versatility is something that the Redskins can use as Roberts wasn’t the only free agent receiver the Redskins signed.  They also signed DeSean Jackson, which means more than likely Roberts will start out in the slot for the Redskins.

And the slot might be his best position, as he has very good quickness, and he knows how to find the open areas in the defense.  Roberts also has experience as a kick returner, and he may also fill that duty on special teams.  If Garcon or Jackson go down with an injury, then Roberts has the ability to step in and still be productive.
