Extra Points – Today’s topics

  • RGIII speaks on Redskins ulterior motives last season.
  • The NFL rules Jimmy Graham is a tight end.
  • Is Johnny Manziel partying too much?

1.  Who had ulterior motives for the Redskins last year?

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III stated recently in an interview with FOXsports.com that the Redskins won’t have any ulterior motives this season.

“What I think is going to help us most this year is that everybody in that building is going to be for us being successful and for us winning.  There are no ulterior motives. That will be great.”

Was RGIII referring to Mike Shanahan?  If so, what would Shanahan’s ulterior motives have been?  If you believe the ESPN reports from last season, Mike Shanahan wanted to quit after the 2012 season, so maybe his heart wasn’t completely in it last year.  Who knows?

But one thing is for sure, RGIII feels that everyone is on the same page this year, and maybe that will be one of the keys to the Redskins getting back to the playoffs.

QB needs to quit talking about Mike, he got what he wanted, Mikes gone. Now he has nobody to blame but himself if things go wrong.

RGIII probably should have just said last year is in the past, and I’m focused on this year. That probably would have been the best way to answer that question. As for blame last season, it’s kind of hard for me to blame much on a quarterback coming off of a catastrophic knee injury, and had no offseason to prepare. But I think you’re right in that a healthy RGIII should be held much more accountable this season.

With how injured RGIII was he shouldn’t of been in the games the coach put him in. I remember hearing doctors reports warning them not to put him in the games. That is all on the coach for seriously injuring him in the first place.

I agree. If Shanahan didn’t think RGIII was healthy enough to play, then he should have started Cousins. And I also agree that Shanahan is to blame for RGIII’s torn ACL.

I wasn’t blaming QB for how he played. He was hurt and I understand that completely. It was all the extra stuff he done last year that I was referring to. He said many things that stirred the pot with us fans and media about where the blame for the bad year should be put, and done a few things also. “operation patience” ring a bell??

I think as his career moves forward you will see a much more mature RGIII. But last season was just a bad situation and the knee injury didn’t make things any better. However, I think the criticism he received last season will help keep him grounded, and wanted to keep getting better.

Things should be more stable in DC now. Hopefully RG3 only had a problem with shanahan exclusively, and he isn’t a coach killer type. I think manziel is going to be a huge bust. I’m calling it. This guy will be an epic failure as an NFL quarterback.

Some of the best quarterbacks didn’t get along with their head coaches. So RGIII isn’t unusual in that regard. Sometimes it’s just about matching up personalities. I think Jay Gruden is a better fit for RGIII. As for Manziel, He needs to show where his priorities are. If partying is a bigger priority than football, then he will be a bust.

Maybe Manziel knows he is going to be a bust too and thats why he is partying so hardcore. Hell i seen him in a pic with beiber you know he has to far at that point.

He just doesn’t get it yet. He’ll find out soon though, when his teammates aren’t taking him seriously.
