2014 NFL Power Rankings Countdown

30.  Minnesota Vikings (NFC North)

2013 Record:  5-10-1

Head coach:  Mike Zimmer – Widely regarded as one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL, Zimmer finally gets his chance to be a head coach.  After turning the Cincinnati Bengals defense into one of the best in the NFL, Zimmer will try to do the same with the Vikings.

Best offensive player:  Adrian Peterson, running back – Beyond a shadow of a doubt, Peterson is the best running back in the league.  One of the few backs who is still a marquee attraction, Peterson wants to get more involved in the Vikings passing game this season.

Best defensive player:  Chad Greenway, outside linebacker – Greenway is in his eighth NFL season, but he continues to be one of the more effective linebackers in the league.  He led the Vikings in tackles (134) and interceptions (3) last season.

Rising Star:  Cordarrelle Patterson, wide receiver – Patterson burst onto the scene last season, especially as return man.  But now he may be ready to become the Vikings top receiver.
