4. Settle right guard spot - The Redskins return the solid Chris Chester at right guard in 2014. He’s been the starter there for the past three seasons. But although he fits very well into the zone blocking scheme, and is a good run blocker, his skills in pass protection leave something to be desired.
Chester is favored to start to open the season, but he will get plenty of competition from a few new comers and some holder overs on the team as well. Most notably Josh LeRibeus, Adam Gettis, and Maurice Hurt. The Redskins signed free agent Mike McGlynn, and drafted Spencer Long in the third round from Nebraksa.
Which ones will give Chester the most competition? Probably LeRibeus and Long. Both were third round picks, and the Redskins organization will more than likely want to try to get something from the higher round draft picks.
