The Washington Redskins have selected Indiana tight end Ted Bolser at pick number 217 of the seventh round. The Redskins needed to add depth at tight end. The Redskins starting tight end Jordan Reed had an outstanding rookie season, but he was also out a lot with injuries. The Redskins needed to add depth at tight end and they did with Bolser.
Here’s my evaluation:
Ted Bolser is a huge target at 6’6, 248. Bolser is most effective in the red zone where he can use his height and length to give the quarterback a wider margin to throw to. He’s also good blocker and can probably perform some H-back duties as well out of the backfield.
Bolser is good in the red zone, but isn’t much of a threat down field. He’s a little raw, but he may improve in an NFL conditioning program and under NFL coaching.
I’ll have more analysis on the Redskins selection of Ted Bolser shortly.
