The Washington Redskins have selected Arkansas kicker Zach Hocker at pick number 228 of the seventh round. This wasn’t really a need for the Redskins, but kicker Kai Forbath struggled at times last season dealing with a groin injury. As a result his field goal percentage dropped in 2013.
Here’s my evaluation:
Zach Hocker has a very strong leg and was amongst the leaders in the NCAA in touchbacks. This may be the major reason the Redskins drafted him, and his ability to make long field goals. Hocker made 87% of his field goals last season for the Razorbacks.
I’ll have more analysis on the Redskins selection of Zach Hocker shortly.
