This is something I’ve been asking for months now. Should the Washington Redskins trade down from pick 34 in order to gain even more picks? The 2014 NFL draft is loaded at many positions, and the Redskins have many needs to address. Plus, they gave up some high valued picks in the Robert Griffin III trade, so it would make sense to try to get some back.
There are some high valued prospects still on the board in USC wide receiver Marqise Lee, Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr, and Notre Dame defensive tackle Louis Nix. So there are more than likely some teams out there who would want to strike a deal with the Redskins in order to move up to grab one of the players.
It’s a deep draft for wide receivers, but Marqise Lee has first round talent. And there are some teams still out there who are needy at wide receiver. The New York Jets, Detroit Lions, and the Cleveland Browns to name a few. Especially Cleveland, as a team wanting Lee would probably need to jump ahead of them at pick number 35.
And the Browns traded up one spot in the first round, so they might be willing to do it in round two. Quarterback Derek Carr also has first round talent, and there are still teams out there who need a quarterback. So Redskins GM Bruce Allen should have some options to move down if the right deal presents itself. And if it does, then I think the Redskins should trade down.
