2014 NFL Draft profile – Cyrus Kouandjio

2014 NFL Draft

Name:  Cyrus Kouandjio

School:  Alabama

Position:   Offensive Tackle

Age:  20

Height:  6-7

Weight:   332

Positives:  Cyrus Kouandjio has elite size for an offensive tackle.  He played left tackle at Alabama, but could play on the right side.  He’s a very young prospect as he won’t turn 21 until July, which indicates he may only be scratching the surface of his potential.  Was a three year starter at left tackle for the Crimson Tide and played against top competition in the SEC.

Negatives:  Kouandjio struggled mightily late in the season at Alabama.  He had trouble holding the edge and protecting the passer against Auburn and Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl.  He didn’t use his hands or get his arms extended well, and he was slow in moving his feet.

Impact on the Redskins:  With Trent Williams on the left side, Kouandjio would have to play right tackle.  And starting out his career, that may be the best position for him.  The Redskins could use an upgrade at left tackle

Where the Redskins might pick him:  The Redskins would have to pick Kouandjio with their second round pick # 34, as he most certainly won’t be on the board after the second round.

Other teams interested:   Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints,  Houston Texans
