The Washington Redskins have added a cornerback to their free agent haul. As they’ve have agreed to terms with Oakland Raiders cornerback Tracy Porter. Many remember Porter for his pick six of Peyton Manning to the seal the win for the New Orleans Saints over the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.
The Redskins needed to add another corner with former starter Josh Wilson a free agent, and unlikely to return to the team. Porter at 5’11 adds a taller corner to team to replace the 5’9 Wilson. The Redskins re-signed DeAngelo Hall and also have rookie David Amerson returning as well, and they will more than likely start.
In today’s NFL with the advent the uptempo offenses, teams need to have multiple corners who can cover. Porter is known as an instinctive player in coverage and has shown that he has a propensity to make big plays a key junctures in a game. And while Tracy porter is only 27 years old, the Redskins will be Porter’s third team in his six year career.
