Mike Jones of the Washington Post is reporting that the Washington Redskins have agreed to terms with Arizona Cardinals free agent wide receiver Andre Roberts. The Redskins needed to bolster their receiving unit, and it seems that Roberts will be an important piece in helping them do that.
Andre Roberts has been a consistent receiver for the Cardinals, particularly out of the slot. And he will more than likely play in that role for the Redskins. Santana Moss has been the Redskins slot receiver for the past few seasons, but with the signing of Roberts, it seems Moss’ time with the team may be near an end.
Roberts has had nearly 150 receptions the past three seasons for the Cardinals and he could also be an option as a kick returner on special teams. another need for the Redskins. With Roberts in the fold, I still look for the Redskins to possibly sign another receiver, but most certainly draft a receiver.
We are seeing the Redskins upgrade the receiving corps to go along with one of the better receivers in the league in Pierre Garcon. More weapons are needed to give quarterback Robert Griffin III as many options in the passing game as possible.
