2014 Redskins Free Agents. Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall signed with the Redskins during the 2008 season, after being released by the Oakland Raiders. Hall struggled with the Raiders, and never quite adapted to the team’s defensive system. In 2009, Hall signed a six-year $55 million contract with the Redskins, and is now an unrestricted free agent.
Hall has been a starter for the Redskins at cornerback since then, and was named to the pro bowl in 201o. A season in which Hall had maybe his most memorable game as a Redskin, with a 4 interception performance against the Chicago Bears. Hall had six interceptions overall that season, along with 16 passes defensed.
Hall has had 11 interceptions since 2010, and 23 total during his time as a Redskin. He’s been the most consistent performer in the secondary, and although the Redskins defense as a whole wasn’t very good last season, Hall still managed to perform well. Often covering the opposing team’s best receiver every game.
Both Redskins starting corners from last season, Josh Wilson and Hall are free agents, and the team may have to make choice between which one to keep. Hall will more than likely be the choice, but the question is will the Redskins expect him to remain a starter or move into more of a nickel role, defending the slot receiver.
David Amerson will probably be elevated to one starting cornerback position, and the Redskins will surely sign another corner in free agency. So as long as it’s at the right price, I say Buy on DeAngelo Hall. He’s still capable of playing at a high level as a starter, and would make a great third corner too. So what do you say on DeAngelo Hall? Buy or sell?
