San Diego Chargers - 9-7
Denver Broncos - 13-3
Chargers vs. Broncos. The San Diego Chargers come into this game with the Denver Broncos as a team with nothing to lose. No one expected them to be here, and no one expects them win. And the Broncos come in with their high-powered offense with Peyton Manning at the controls, and most expect them to win big. But the Broncos were in the same position last year and failed.
It was almost the exact same scenario. Last year the Ravens were mere afterthoughts, as most pundits had predicted a Broncos/Patriots AFC Championship game. But the Ravens shocked the world, and the world is being set up for shock again, as the Chargers look for the upset. But I think the Broncos will be better prepared for the ambush this time around.
The Broncos know full well, that the Chargers can beat them on their home field, because they already did it this season in week 15, as the Chargers won 27-20. But one of the reasons I think the Chargers won that game is because they know that a win is a win. Regardless of by how much. A lesson I don’t think Peyton Manning has fully learned yet.
Oh yes, Manning wants to win, he just wants to win lighting up the score board. And if his offense isn’t rolling up and down the field, he tends to get frustrated, and begins to make mistakes. I think the Chargers head coach Mike McCoy knows the weaknesses of Manning and the Broncos from having been their offensive coordinator last year, and uses those weakness against them.
McCoy doesn’t care if the his quarterback Philip Rivers throws for 7 TD’s, all he cares is that the Chargers win. But I think Manning and the Broncos have finally learned from the shock of last season, and the week 15 loss to the Broncos, that it doesn’t matter how much you win by, just that you win. I think it will be a closer game than some believe, but in the end Manning and the Broncos will come out on top. Chargers vs. Broncos. 4:40 pm - CBS
