Indianapolis Colts – 11-5
New England Patriots - 12-4
Colts vs. Patriots. The Indianapolis Colts come into this playoff game with the New England Patriots as a dangerous team. All looked lost for the Colts last week against the Chiefs. They were down 38-10, and appeared to be the victims of a serious beat down. But the Colts didn’t give up, and staged a furious come back for the right to face the Patriots.
And that’s what makes them dangerous. They stared defeat in the eye, and didn’t blink. So it has to make them believe they’re a team of destiny. But the Patriots are a team that knows all about destiny, as they’ve played in enough Super Bowls to know what it means to win big. Especially their quarterback Tom Brady, as the Patriots will always have a chance to win with him in the lineup.
But the Patriots have so many injuries they’re dealing with, even Tom Brady’s presence might not be enough to overcome them. Particularly on offense. The loss of Rob Gronkowski took away Brady’s number one target, and rookie wide receivers Aaron Dobson and Kembrell Thompkins are both struggling with injuries. As is running back Shane Vereen.
All will more than likely play, but how much of a factor they will be remains to be seen. The Colts are relatively healthy, and come into this matchup as a team on a roll, having won four straight games. Their quarterback Andrew Luck looked like the goat early in the game last week with three early interceptions, but finished up the hero, and has to have a ton of confidence.
And I think that will be the difference in this game. The Patriots don’t have enough offense to blow out the Colts, and the Colts showed last week, that to beat their offense you will need to put points on the board. But the Patriots won’t be able to muster enough, and the Colts will win a close, hard-fought game. Colts vs. Patriots. 8:15 pm – CBS
