At this point, can anyone believe a word that Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan says? When you hear him talk it seems like there’s some sincerity there, but that just may be the product of hundreds of press conferences and answering thousands of questions. By now Mike Shanahan has probably perfected the art of saying one thing, and thinking another.
But can all this be a misconception on the part of outsiders, who simply don’t know what’s really going on? I mean we’re not crazy in thinking there’s some kind of a disconnect going on between Redskins owner Daniel Snyder and Shanahan are we? But to see Mike Shanahan pretend as though this was just another week of game preparation, is just utterly bizarre.
It’s been reported that Shanahan wanted to quit last season, something he hasn’t denied. He’s only stated that never cleaned out his office though, so I guess that’s something. It’s been alleged that Shanahan himself is the source of the leaks from the Redskins organization. But if it’s not him, Shanahan doesn’t seem too concerned over who it might be?
Saying only that’s what happens when you lose. And maybe I haven’t been paying enough attention to other teams, but I can’t recall seeing anything as bizarre as this happen on other losing teams the way Shanahan is suggesting it does. This is no where close to normal, regardless of how much Mike Shanahan tries to make it out to be.
And Snyder hasn’t said a word while all of this is going on. Is he oblivious to it? Or is he enraged by what Shanahan is trying to pull? Shanahan has stated that he’s met with Snyder. What’s that been like? Cordial, heated, or indifferent? Either way, something tells me at some point this is going to get ugly when the truth is finally revealed. Whatever the truth may be.
