Does the loser of this game win the right to draft Teddy Bridgewater?
Houston Texans - 2-10
Jacksonville Jaguars - 3-9
Texans vs. Jaguars. Entering this season I doubt the Houston Texans ever thought they’d have the worst record in the NFL at week 14. In fact, I think most would have assumed that the Jacksonville Jaguars would have the worst record. On Monday night we got two teams who might be in the Super Bowl, but now on Thursday night we get this years version of the toilet bowl.
The Texans defensively are still one of the top teams in the league. J.J. Watt isn’t as dominant as he was last season, but that was one of the most dominant seasons a defender has ever had. However, it’s on offense where the Texans have faltered. Arian Foster is out injured, Andre Johnson is still good but getting older, and Matt Shaub has fallen completely off the radar of decent QB’s.
Case Keenum has stepped in at QB for the Texans and has been solid, but has not shown he is the future at the position. The Jaguars Chad Henne has also been solid if not spectacular. But it’s all but certain that both these teams will be selecting QB’s in the 2014 NFL draft. The question is which team gets to draft the top prospect in Louisville’s Teddy Bridgewater.
It doesn’t look like it will be the Jaguars as they have won three of their last four games, but they’ve all been on the road. The good news for the Jags is the Texans are on a 10 game losing streak, and I expect that streak to continue. Yes this is the toilet bowl, but the thing about the toilet bowl is that the winner is the team that loses. So in losing, the Texans win. Texans vs. Jaguars.
Score prediction: 24-21 Jaguars
Points spread: Texans - 3
Over/under: 43 – Over
