New York Giants - 4-7
Washington Redskins - 3-8
Giants vs. Redskins. Neither of these teams have been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. So there’s still a small glimmer of hope that remains, which makes this an important game for both teams. The winner would remain in the hunt for the NFC East, and the loser’s chances diminish just a little bit more.
The New York Giants are only two years removed from winning a Super Bowl, but barely resemble the team they were then. Some of the characters are the same, but the story is playing out much differently. Then, quarterback Eli Manning had elevated his name into the conversation of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, but now he’s having one of his worst Seasons.
And as Manning attempts to get past his poor play, Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III is under fire for his. He’s taken criticism for his statements in press conferences, and some are even calling for him to be benched. But one thing is for certain, one of these two quarterbacks has to step up in order for their teams to secure a win.
As for the head coaches, there is sentiment that regardless of happens with the Giants, that their coach Tom Coughlin will return next season. However, for the Redskins Mike Shanahan there are no guarantees. Shanahan has been cool under fire, but his composure hasn’t seemed to motivate his team to win.
When it comes down to the difference of winning and losing between two bad teams, typically it’s about which team still believes. And as much as the Redskins talk of not being quitters, I don’t think they believe in themselves as a team. And with 4 wins in the last 5 games, I think the Giants do. Giants win a close game. Giants vs. Redskins.
Score prediction: 24-23 Giants
