Redskins vs. Eagles - Game Preview and Pick

Washington Redskins  – 3-6

Philadelphia Eagles  - 5-5

Redskins vs. Eagles.  These teams began the season on much different trajectories.  The Philadelphia Eagles were a team with a new coach and a new system who had high hopes but a lot of uncertainties.  While the Redskins were a team coming off an NFC East Title with expectations to accomplish even more.

But as the season has passed the mid-way point, it’s the Eagles who have surged into a tie for the division lead, and the Redskins who sit on the verge of disaster if they don’t find a way to pile up wins in a hurry.  The Eagles also appeared to be on a downward trend recently, as their vaunted offense hit the skids in weeks 7 and 8.

However, the past few games the Eagles offense has been resurgent behind a tremendous stretch from second year QB Nick Foles.  Foles has been on fire with 10 TD’s passes in the last two games for the Eagles.

It seemed like the Redskins were ready to surge as well, with a big win over the Chargers in week 9, before falling flat in week 10, losing to the Vikings.

But Nick Foles isn’t the only QB in this game that has been playing well.  As Redskins QB Robert Griffin III has returned to form after a slow start to the season, and the Redskins offense as a whole is playing it’s best so far.  However, the problem now as it was in week 1 against the Eagles is the Redskins defense.

They were shell-shocked in that first game, and the prospects don’t look much better this time around.  However, I think the Redskins will this game.  Why?  Because the Redskins offense is on a much higher level now than it was at the beginning of the season.  RGIII and Alfred Morris will have a much bigger impact on the game this time around.

And the ability to score and control the clock by running the ball will take pressure off the Redskins defense, and put more pressure on the Eagles.  Combine that with the fact that the Eagles have not won at home yet this season, and I think that adds up to a Redskins victory.   Redskins vs. Eagles.

Score prediction:       28-27  Redskins

Points spread:      Eagles – 4.5

Over/under:  53 – Over
