Confirmed via twitter by the Washington Examiner’s John Keim:
Not really surprising, but a league source says KR/PR Brandon Banks will NOT be returning to the #Redskins.
Banks’ future was seen in doubt by most with the rise of 2012 7th round pick Richard Crawford. Crawford, unlike Banks, can play multiple positions and wouldn’t occupy a roster spot that could be easily allocated to another player. The Redskins are already deep enough at receiver and Banks’ explosiveness had been lacking since his
knife wounds injuries sustained during the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Banks has more career fumbles (13) than receptions (11) in his Redskins career. If Brandon is released, he’s likely to catch on quickly with another team since he has the potential to score and would be less of a financial obligation than other high-end returners.
