Geno Smith, much like Robert Griffin III in the 2012 NFL Combine, did not want to seen as “running” or “option-quarterback”. It will be interesting to see how he adapts to that mindset. Smith of course is trying to sell the fact that he can he a traditional quarterback, thus making him more appealing to the masses, but he cannot deny the talents he has.
Griffin and Cam Netwon before him both had the passing and running ability yet wanted to be known for the latter. However, if you have the ability to do both well, it makes you a more dangerous weapon and though teams aren’t saying it, it might bode him well.
