RGIII vs. Other NFC East QB’s – Week 5

DC hospitals fill up with heart attack victims after RGIII gets knocked out of the game. Brad Mills-US PRESSWIRE

In the week five match-up against the Atlanta Falcons, every Redskin fan’s biggest fear came true: RGIII got hurt. Thankfully, it was just a mild concussion, and he should be back on the field this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings defense is better against the run than the pass, so RGIII will have to make plays with his arm without taking too many big hits. In week five, Griffin’s best drive was ruined by a missed field goal, so he should be eager to get back out on the field and prove to the home crowd that he can lead this team to points and victories. Come on Robert. Help break the home losing streak. It’s embarrassing!

Speaking of embarrassments, Michael Vick fumbled away a potential victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, causing Eagles fans to choke on their cheesesteaks while they begged to see Nick Foles take over. Vick has become a turnover machine, and I think Philly fans are tired of hearing him talk about how he’s going to fix his problem every week. This week, the Eagles face a weak Detroit defense. If Vick has multiple turnovers again, there could be a bench in his future.

Unfortunately, Tony Romo had the week off, so we couldn’t laugh at him this week. Wait a minute. I’m still laughing about the week before!!

After trailing early, Eli Manning and the Giants came back to clobber a bad Cleveland team. Eli threw three touchdowns, all to Victor Cruz, and was helped out immensely by his running game and defense. The Giants face a tough 49ers team this week, and they can’t count on two easy scores from special teams mistakes this time. The San Francisco defense will stifle the running game, so Eli will have to make quick decisions to avoid getting beaten up by the pass rush. He should get Hakeem Nicks back this week, so that should help.

Here are the total passing stats through week 5:

Griffin: 96-139 1,161 yards 4 TD 1 INT 11 Sacks 90.4 QB rating

Vick: 108-185 1,321 yards 6 TD 6 INT 14 Sacks 77.8 QB rating

Romo: 101-151 1,148 yards 5 TD 8 INT 8 Sacks 78.5 QB rating

Manning: 128-197 1,579 yards 10 TD 5 INT 4 Sacks 96.0 QB rating
