In response to the recent struggles of Billy Cundiff, the Washington Redskins will work out a number of kickers Tuesday in Ashburn.
Head coach Mike Shanahan said he was disappointed in Cundiff’s performancefollowing last Sunday’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons. One week removed from a dismal performance in Tampa, Cundiff may have sealed his fate with a missed 31-yard chip-shot in the team’s eighth straight loss at home.
Washington Redskins outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan on Monday night was the subject of ridicule on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown’s popular feature “C’Mon Man!”
ESPN anchor Chris “Boomer” Berman apparently took exception to Kerrigan’s decision to jump into the FedExField stands after scoring on a 28-yard interception return off Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan.
The act that is affectionately known as the “Landover Leap” in these parts was referred to as the “FedEx Flop” by Boomer on ESPN.
Robert Griffin III felt good enough to attend something called a Rookie Success Program meeting Monday morning and seemed, by all accounts, to be doing just fine on the day after suffering his first NFL concussion.
Griffin still has to complete the league’s mandated return-to-play protocol before he’s cleared for practice, but his Washington Redskins teammates and coach Mike Shanahan were optimistic the Heisman Trophy winner will be able to play in this week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Injured Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather will be sidelined for an estimated four additional weeks after the latest setback to his injured left knee, Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday.
“I’d say it’s going to take Brandon in the area of four weeks before he comes back,” Shanahan said. “That’s just guessing. That’s what our doctors think right now, looking at his knee.”
