Redskins fans, we got some good news today on the injury front.
Pierre Gacon WR: He’s listed as questionable and is said to be a game-time decision, but ESPN reported earlier that he is expected to play. It’s always nice to have as many threats available when your quarterback is rookie, so this is definitely good news. However, if Pierre has a setback, and misses the game, RG3 now has the confidence he can succeed without his top target. RG3 played just as well with Garcon as he did without him against the Saints. That being said, I’ll still feel better if we have all our weapons at Shanahan’s disposal.
Nick Sundberg LS: The Raiders proved on Monday night just how valuable a good long snapper is. This is why the Redskins, although putting him on IR, made Nick eligible to play in eight weeks. They know Sundberg is one of the better long snappers in the game, and if they can bring him back they will. The Redskins had little choice to put him on IR since it’s hard to eat up an extra spot on the 53-man roster on two long snappers. Fortunately, the new NFL rules allow for a team to bring back one player off of IR after eight weeks.
Chris Baker DT: Chris is expected to be able to play this week in St. Louis. It will be nice to get some depth back on the defensive line. The front seven played very well last week without Baker, but it never hurts to add more talent.
Brandon Meriweather S: With a sprained knee, Meriweather is expected to be out at least two more weeks. In today’s NFL, you can never have too many healthy bodies in the secondary, so we wish Meriweather a speedy recovery, and hope it’s only two more weeks.
