RG3 NFC Offensive Player of the Week

It’s Wednesday, so I’m sure RG3 found out he was in the locker room when he found out he was the NFC’s offensive player of the week.  He then promptly sat in front of his locker and did his own imitation of himself and did the RG3 (Doing the RG3).  Too bad we don’t have a picture of that, so we will stick to the rumor.

In reality, Griffin becomes the first Redskin to win the honor of NFC Offensive Player of the Week since 2008.  He is the first Washington rookie to win it since Rod Gardner did it in 2001.

Griffin III wasn’t given this award, he earned it.  He hit is first eight passes; completed 19 of 26 in total for 320 yards and two touchdowns.  Most importantly, he did this without any turnovers, taking only one sack and made no other rookie mistakes.

Shanahan can take partial credit.  He came in with a nice game plan.  Lots of quick short passes to get RG3 comfortable, then unleashed the beast once the jitters were gone.

I’m not delusional in thinking RG3 will have a perfect rookie season, but after beating up on the Saints, Griffin must be licking his lips, looking at the lamb chops he’ll being facing in St. Louis this week.
