Each team in the NFC East has played two more games in the last week, but week 3 was the most important of the preseason. The hype surrounding the Redskins – Colts game was a little ridiculous for preseason, but it turned out to be an entertaining game. Shanahan had Griffin throwing deep three times, but each time he threw it just a hair too deep. Once Griffin and the receivers get their timing down, that deep ball will be a thing of beauty. It was fun to watch Griffin and fellow rookie Alfred Morris run the offense more efficiently than it’s been run in years, and score touchdowns. There is so much to be excited about for Redskins fans this year! Sure, it was the Colts defense, but our guys still had to make the plays.
Sadly, the Cowboys made a bad defense look silly in week 3 also. Romo completed a couple of touchdowns to one of his no-name receivers, so all the Cowboy fans are predicting a Super Bowl once again. They looked sharp, but not playoff-caliber just yet. They have a lot of work to do before facing the Giants on Wednesday. Luckily, they won’t get to face the Rams defense again, but we will!
Eli Manning played in weeks 3 and 4. He continues to put up underwhelming numbers, but that will change in the regular season. The only reason he played in week 4 was to throw some passes to Hakeem Nicks, so they could get their timing down for the regular season. Hopefully, the Giants are saving the big passing numbers for opening night!
Here are the total passing stats for the preseason (Vick only played 2 games, Manning 4 games):
Griffin: 20-31 193 yards 2 TD 0 INT 3 Sacks 103.3 QB rating
Vick: 4-7 11 yards 0 TD 0 INT 1 Sack 62.2 QB rating
Romo: 21-32 303 yards 2 TD 0 INT 1 Sack 117.1 QB rating
Manning: 32-51 299 yards 1 TD 1 INT 1 Sack 77.2 QB rating
Now, enough of the preseason garbage. Let’s play some real games!!
