Well, week two of the preseason wasn’t as glamorous for RGIII as the previous week, but he got a good taste of the speed and pressure of a dominant defense. Chicago defenders were in the Redskins’ backfield during every play that Griffin was in the game for, and they hit him hard and forced him to fumble and throw a bad pass or two. On his last drive, Griffin escaped the rush and had a beautiful 14-yard scramble that eventually set up a field goal. That was pretty much the lone highlight of his week two performance. To his credit, the blocking in front of him was horrendous, and there was no game plan in place. Regardless, every Redskin fan wants to see more this week against Indy.
Michael Vick’s preseason has been a bit of a nightmare for Eagles fans. In two games, he’s only been in for a handful of plays, but has been injured twice. He won’t be playing anymore preseason games, and Philly fans are wondering if he’ll have any kind of timing with his receivers once the season starts. As a Redskin fan, I’m hoping he doesn’t!
Tony Romo’s preseason hasn’t been a great one either. Half of the team is injured in Dallas, and they’re starting offense can’t get any rhythm going. Once they did get something going against the Chargers in week two, Romo’s touchdown pass to Bryant was called back due to a hold. The offensive line in Dallas is among the worst in the league right now, and nobody in Washington would be upset if it stayed that way. When Dallas can’t score, fans of 31 other teams laugh and celebrate!
Eli Manning continued to look unimpressive in his second preseason game. The offense for the Giants really didn’t get rolling until the second stringers took over. I’m guessing the Giants haven’t done any game planning this preseason either, and this trend won’t continue into the regular season. Nicks will be back then also, which will put a smile on Eli’s goofy face.
Here are the total passing stats for the first two weeks of the preseason:
Griffin – 9-14 119 yards 1 TD 0 INT 3 Sacks 114.9 QB rating
Vick – 4-7 11 yards 0 TD 0 INT 1 Sack 62.2 QB rating
Romo – 12-19 105 yards 0 TD 0 INT 1 Sack 77.7 QB rating
Manning – 11-22 122 yards 0 TD 1 INT 0 Sacks 47.9 QB rating
