Redskins will turn back the clock to 1995 for a week

Nike has held auctions on shoes before, but not like this. Maybe you’re a fan of the hit movie series “Back to the Future” and you followed their release of the Nike Air Mag. Back in September of 2011, Nike released 1500 pairs of the Nike Air Mag via EBay and a few other sources. The shoes sold for anywhere from $1500 to upwards of $10,000 on the secondary market. The proceeds benefited Michael J. Fox’s foundation for Parkinson’s Disease research. The commercials were released via youtube and I’ve included one below, just in case you were unaware.

Now, Nike has decided to create a few pair of 2012 Limited Edition Redskins Air Max 95 shoes. They will also be auctioned off, and are set to begin selling at a measly $175.00. Each auction is only for nine hours (8am – 5pm) and each day features only one pair in one size. Here’s a look at the shoe per Redskins.com.

The shoe itself isn’t bad looking at all. You can head over to the Redskins shop on their site to take a crack at the auction tomorrow. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation.

In 1995, the Washington Redskins finished with a 6-10 record and in third place in the NFC East. Jack Kent Cooke still owned the franchise and Norv Turner was the head coach. The Redskins were also still playing at RFK when this shoe was originally released.
