Why is everyone blaming me for this?!? - Eric P. Mull-USPRESSWIRE

RGIII is not to blame for contract issue

People are so quick to blame the athlete in any contract issue. They always think that any problems are due to the athlete being greedy and wanting more money. That’s not the case right now. The issue is the offset language in the contract, which doesn’t affect RGIII one way or the other. The Redskins don’t want future players thinking they can get contracts with no offset, meaning that if they’re released, they would still get unpaid guaranteed money from the ‘Skins on top of whatever contract they sign with another team. RGIII’s agent wants to be able to tell future clients that he can get them a contract with no offset. There is the disagreement folks. It’s that simple. An agent trying to build a strong reputation for future clients versus an organization who doesn’t want to be financially screwed by a future bust.

I’ve seen some fans giving Griffin a hard time about this on Twitter and Facebook, and that’s grossly unfair. Griffin posted last night, “Kicking back and relaxing as I get ready to watch the USA take on Brazil in my new home of DC”. This morning he posted a link to his new Adidas ad. Most fans have responded positively, but many are saying things like, “I know your getting paid by Adidas but can you please hurry and sign the contract for the Redskins??” and “Hey sign your contract and get your a** to rookie camp!!!!!!! So u dont get killed this season, and leave all this other bulls*** alone. Just go do your job”. Does Griffin really deserve that kind of grief? I know it may have rubbed people the wrong way when he said he was “kicking back” after missing the first day of rookie camp, but what is he supposed to do? He has been nothing but a “team” guy since the moment he was drafted, so I’m suggesting to everyone who is angered by this contract situation to take it out on RGIII’s agent and Redskins management, and leave Griffin alone. We all know he wants to be in camp. We all know he wants to win for us. Let’s not ruin his attitude by bombarding him with negativity! Leave the man alone, and let’s get back to laughing at Dez Bryant!!
