Redskins 2012: Why they WILL sign Peyton Manning

As the off-season keeps rolling, ‘Skins fans continue to talk about the possibility of bringing future Hall-of-Famer Peyton Manning to the team. This idea intrigues some, like myself, and makes others want to turn their head. I think it’s safe to say the majority of fans want the Redskins to draft RG3, a QB with great potential and an even better arm. Sounds good right?

To me that sounds like a great plan, the only thing stopping me is the price. Here’s a scenario for you: Would you rather by a piece of really nice used clothing for $100, or that same exact piece of clothing brand new, for $500? That is exactly what the Redskins must decide soon, and with so many needs, they must go cheaper.(I’m talking about a QB now not clothes)

In orde to draft Robert Griffin III, the Redskins will most likely have to sacrifice their first 3 picks this year, and 1 next year. That would throw a huge wrench into the process in which we are going through, whatever that may be. If they want to have a chance to win now, they must sign a healthy Peyton Manning.

Anybody notice the key word in that previous sentence? Yes, it was “healthy”. Just try to imagine a healthy Manning with a first round wide receiver, along with Leonard Hankerson, Santana Moss, and Fred Davis, with a three-headed beast a running-back. If you ask me, that is one hell of an offense. Not to mention that the Redskins would also get a ton of attention, something myself as a fan would love. And maybe that attention and expectation can put more pressure on us and we will do better. (Try not to think of the Eagles dream team right now)

We can all agree on one thing, and that is that we need a spark on offense. If we can get that play-maker on offense, that energy could transfer over to our defense. You may not notice, but team’s defenses tend to do better when their offense is on the field more, and not constantly giving the ball up. Manning, if healthy, will give us that talent for a much cheaper price than RG3.  Agree with me or not, we need every draft pick we can get, and giving them away is a big no no, especially at this point. Right now the Redskins are trying to win, and that, Redskins nation, is why we WILL sign Peyton Manning.

I do not agree with this article. No Manning, he is to big of a risk even if he is healthy. The skins need to Draft RGIII, to build the future of this team. Coach Shanahan tried with an old veteran QB with McNabb, I have a real hard time believing he would walk down that path again!
