Every Redskins fan knows that this season was one of more ups than downs. Every Giants fan knows that if the Giants were to play the Redskins one hundred times, the Giants would win ninety-five of them. Wait. The Giants were swept by the Washington Football Redskins? Really?
“As a team and an organization, we know that the Washington Redskins isn’t a better team than us…We know that hands down. If we played them one hundred times, they might win five. They won that day. It never leaves a good taste in your mouth when you lose to an opponent that you know you are better than.” – Giants Safety Antrel Rolle on WFAN.
Not only did the Redskins take care of the Giants on that opening week, they took care of them again during week 15 with a 23-10 victory in New Jersey.
The Giants obviously came up with the better record this year and won the division. Most Redskins fans feelings are somewhere between “at least it wasn’t the Cowboys” and “if only we would have won this game and that game we…”. The Giants can throw the ball very well when healthy, which they were during the last meeting. They can also run the ball and play some great defense in the trenches. The Redskins simply out-executed the Giants in both games.
Can you imagine Mike McCarthy walking up to Aaron Rodgers and saying “let’s check the tape of the two Redskins/Giants games and find some flaws.” Hey, it might not be too farfetched. The Giants had issues against Mr. Interception himself. How will they handle themselves in Mr. Rodgers neighborhood this weekend?
If the New York Giants are truly the class of the NFC East then Redskins fans should feel a sense of comfort. The Eagles are the team without a dream; the Cowboys are almost guaranteed to not win anything major until Jerrah get’s rid of Romo, his head coach or himself and the Giants, well they lost two games they “should have won”.
