The Washington Redskins played host to the New England Patriots today and to our suprise they also payed tribute to Patriots of the United States; Our Army and Navy. FedEx field was the site of the traditional Army vs Navy college football game Saturday(112th meeting). Due to this contest the endzones were painted saying ARMY and NAVY. Sunday, when the Redskins marched on the field the endzones were still the same. No traditional burgundy and gold led to a non traditional burgundy and gold performance.
At the beginning of the game, it appeared it was going to be a very long day for Redskins Nation when the Patriots scored on a fumble in the endzone. After falling behind 14-0 I bet the majority of Redskins fans watching at home decided to do something else with their Sunday afternoon. The Redskins had other plans, scoring 17 unanswered points. Highlight of the scoring frenzy being Receiver Brandon Banks telling the coaches that anything Rex can do, he can do better and Kyle believed him! Banks finished the game with a perfect passer rating with his 1-1 49 yds. 1td performance. Goes to show when you put playmakers on the field, defenses HAVE to respect them and play them differently.
Is there another quarterback controversy in Washington? Does Banks make a good case to be our Tim Tebow option quarterback? Maybe not, but the Redskins played a very complete game and had every chance to win this game. Mistakes and penalties came back to bite the Redskins yet again. I was extremely impressed with the way the Redskins found something that was working and stuck with it the entire game. So many times we have showed a spark with a few plays and wont see those same plays again for the rest of the game. That toss RB read play showed consistent success along with the play action reads from Rex. I believe we have something to build off for the future of this team. Congrats to the Patriots for FINALLY getting a win in Washington…took you long enough. #HTTR
