Fred Davis officially suspended: C'mon man!

Fred Davis, tight end of the Washington Redskins was officially suspended by league Tuesday, as the Redskins season just keeps getting worse. Davis was on pace to have a career season, with 59 catches and 796 yards. His season will be cut 4 games short, due to multiple failed drug tests. It is reported that it was a recreational drug use. Word first broke a week ago, but the matter was raised Saturday afternoon. Trent Williams, Davis’s teammate, received the same penalty. Unlike Davis, Williams was having a tough year with multiple injuries, but was picking up his slack in recent weeks.

Being that Davis is only under contract through this season, will the suspension affect his chances of getting a renewal with the Redskins?

I personally do not believe that this suspension will play any role in the possibility of a contract extension for Davis. The third year product of USC has played like a monster in many games this season, and will only improve with more practice. His ability to make plays and stretch the field will convince the ‘Skins personal to keep Davis on the team for the future. But that is then and this is now. On behalf of the Redskins nation, I only have one thing to say to Fred Davis… C’mon Man!
