Can the Redskins get Lucky?

AUTHOR: | IN: Draft, NFC East, NFL draft, Redskins, rumors | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

After a 5th straight loss, the season of the Washington Redskins seems to be coming to an end. Sure, there is always a chance that the ‘Skins will go on an ball-busting 7 game win streak to end the season, win the division, then make it to the ‘Super bowl’. Wait a minute, were talking about Redskins right now. If Rex Grossman remains the starter, only one positive will come from it: raising his completion percentage to opponents. So, besides finishing the season, the next matter of business in Washington is the 2012 draft, and how they will take advantage of a [...]

Injury to insult

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

A bright spot in yesterdays 20-9 loss to the Miami Dolphins was the coming out party for rookie wide receiver Leonard Hankerson. That party was short lived however because Coach Shanahan announced today that the team would be placing Hankerson on season ending IR after Hankerson tore the labrum in his hip in the 4th quarter. Hankerson had been seeing more playing time because of injuries to both Santana Moss and Anthony Armstrong, and also the release of Donte’ Stallworth. Hankerson finished yesterday’s game as the leading receiver from either team posting an impressive stat line of 8 receptions for [...]

Redskins missing person report

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Redskins rushing attack has been virtually absent the past couple of months and there’s been a lot of shuffling of personnel because of it. Even to the point of signing a back from Dallas (did I just say that?). Even going into the fourth quarter of games with a lead, the Skins run game drops off from the first half, as if clock management won’t win you a game or two. And in games where the pass attack doesn’t exist, we have RBs struggling to find holes. Our most effective all around back went down a few games back [...]

Redskins’ Super Bowl is this Sunday

AUTHOR: | IN: A Closer Look | COMMENTS: None Yet

Barring some miraculous turnaround that would include several Giants losses and an improbable seven-game win streak, the Redskins will miss the playoffs this year. At 3-6 the team is tied for last place with a nightmare of a team in Philadelphia, whom they lost to earlier this year 20-13. After a decidedly better game versus Miami on Sunday in another losing effort, the Redskins focus is now on the Cowboys. If Washington doesn’t win another game (and some in the “Draft Position” camp would be okay with that) they must win this game. They had Dallas on the ropes inside [...]

“Dear Kyle…” a letter to the Redskins O.C.

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

“Dear Kyle, Hope everything is well on your end — well, besides the losing streak. First off, I just want to apologize for the four interceptions against Philly. Particularly how I handled the press conference. I wasn’t feeling well, and I probably said some things I regret like throwing Fred under the bus or blowing off a couple of the picks like they weren’t important. I acted immaturely and unprofessional. Secondly, I’d like to thank you for allowing me to have a chance to redeem myself. I kinda felt like something was up around Wednesday or so when you gave [...]

Time for changes, please.

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

Change #1: Replace Brandon Banks on kickoff and punt returns with Terrance Austin. Besides Banks’ 22 yard punt return on Sunday, he once again was below average with his performance. Banks consistently takes kickoffs from five, six or seven yards deep in the end zone out and fails to make it to the twenty yard line. Not only has Banks not showed the burst of speed and excitability he showed in his rookie campaign, he has shown a tendency to muff or fumble the football on several occasions. Terrance Austin has shown in pre-season games that he is consistent in [...]

Grossman has Redskins moving at the half

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News | COMMENTS: None Yet

After Graham Gano’s field goal with 1:07 left in the 2nd quarter the Redskins found themselves down four points 10-6. The score may seem unremarkable to most, but to a Redskins team that was anemic on offense the last few weeks, this is almost an explosion. The ball is moving, Rex is 9/12 for 103 yards and an interception on a route where wide receiver Leonard Hankerson fell down. Grossman seems much more comfortable in the pocket and is actually visibly skinnier. Some are attributing the weight loss to the bout of pneumonia he just went through. Either way, Grossman [...]

Grossman to start for Redskins in Miami

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News | COMMENTS: None Yet

A report earlier today surfaced from NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora that Rex Grossman will indeed be the starter for the Redskins in just under two hours at Miami. There had been reports earlier in the week that John Beck and Rex Grossman were splitting reps with the first team. It appears now that coach Mike Shanahan has lost faith (maybe only for this game) in John Beck and realizes that in order to get the offense moving, they need Rex Grossman. The Redskins were 3-2 with Grossman as the starter and averaged 17.8 points per game when he was in [...]

Keys to success for the Redskins

AUTHOR: | IN: A Closer Look, Opinion, Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s time for a real change in Washington. I’m not speaking of personnel changes either, I’m talking about game plan changes. After Beck and Helu connecting for the most check downs in Redskins history, I’m sure they both would even agree that the Redskins need to stop becoming so predictable. If you were a fan who had not seen the game and you hear that one of your players had 14 receptions, you would think that player had a dominant performance and that your team found a weakness and exploited it. That was not the case for any fan that [...]

Redskins vs. Dolphins: An in-depth preview

AUTHOR: | IN: A Closer Look | COMMENTS: None Yet

Article by guest contributor Joey Billhimer In what looks to be a ‘must-win’ game, John Beck leads the Washington Redskins (3-5) to South Beach to take on the Miami Dolphins (1-7). The Dolphins are coming off a much needed blow-out victory, defeating the surging Kansas City Chiefs. On the other hand, the Redskins have lost in four straight contests, having won their last game in early October against the depleted St. Louis Rams. Both teams have the power and tools to win this match-up, but only one will prevail. Here are some key statistical comparisons for Sunday’s game: Quarterback This [...]
