Why the Redskins faithful hate Tony Romo

As a Washington Redskins fan, things can sometimes get difficult… too difficult. They seem to always do well in the off-season then begin with some promise. Sometimes we win other times were not so lucky. Players and coaches come and go, seasons fly by, and opponents are always different. But one thing that never changes is our hate for Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys.

Its Cowboys week in Washington and nothing is more satisfying then to get a win against the inner-division rivals, being that this is the most anticipated game of the season for the Redskins faithful. Easily the most hated man in Washington D.C, Tony Romo has been battling the Redskins for a few seasons now. Jim Haslett’s defense loves nothing more than driving Romo to the ground, wiping his infamous smirk right off his baby-face. But no matter how hard we hit him, he always manages to squirm away like the little worm he is, making huge plays. Those huge plays have added up and given Tony Romo a 5-1 record against the ‘Skins, something that doesn’t sit well with the Redskins nation. In the most recent heartbreaker in Week 3, Romo and the Cowboys drove down the field in the final minutes to kick a game-winning field goal, their 6th of the night, and only source of points. Maybe had DeAngelo Hall been covering his man (Dez Bryant), instead of blitzing the injured QB, Romo wouldn’t have converted the 3rd and long to set up the win. I guess we’ll never know. All it left the Redskins with was a bitter taste in their mouth, and exposure to their weaknesses.

One of those people left with a bitter taste in their mouth was Redskins veteran tight-end Chris Cooley. Cooley made headlines with his interesting comments about the “cowgirls” Tony Romo. He basically expressed his dislike for Romo, saying he loves watching him lose, and how it makes him feel good. “It’s amazing to watch him choke like that,” said Cooley, referring to Romo’s Meltdown in Week 4 against the Lions, a game in which the Cowboys blew a 24 point lead. “It’s hilarious to watch him throw pick-sixes too, back to back. I loved it.” You’re not the only one Chris, as all Redskins fans love seeing Romo get crushed. Cooley later went on to say he was just kidding about his comments, but that doesn’t change what we think.

The Redskins defense should have some special blitz packages ready for Romo, opening up the hole to give him the sacks he deserves. Hopefully, us ‘Skins fans will get to witness one of his world famous “chokes”, live this Sunday, in favor of the Washington Redskins!
