A bright spot in yesterdays 20-9 loss to the Miami Dolphins was the coming out party for rookie wide receiver Leonard Hankerson. That party was short lived however because Coach Shanahan announced today that the team would be placing Hankerson on season ending IR after Hankerson tore the labrum in his hip in the 4th quarter. Hankerson had been seeing more playing time because of injuries to both Santana Moss and Anthony Armstrong, and also the release of Donte’ Stallworth. Hankerson finished yesterday’s game as the leading receiver from either team posting an impressive stat line of 8 receptions for 106 yards, a 13.3 yards per catch average. Hankerson was a nice surprise to an anemic passing attack, and it would have been nice to see if he could have built on this performance the rest of the season. Redskin fans got a brief taste of what Hankerson can bring to the offense, but for now we will have to wait until next season. Along with Jarvis Jenkins, 2 of first 3 draft picks from this year will finish the season on IR. Please stay healthy Kerrigan . . .
In other injury news and notes, Coach Shanahan revealed that Kedrick Golston will miss some time with a partially torn MCL in his knee, and that both Santana Moss (hand) and Jammal Brown (hip) are BOTH unlikely to return for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys.
