John Beck watched from the sidelines as the seconds ticked off the clock in another Redskins defeat. The offense decided that the final two minutes of the game were the most important. After scoring just three points all game, Beck led the Redskins on a long scoring drive that was capped by a touchdown pass to Jabar Gaffney and a two-point conversion pass to Leonard Hankerson. The ensuing onside kick was recovered by DC native Vernon Davis and effectively ended the game.
The Redskins will face the Dolphins next week in Miami and will undoubtedly be the underdog. This offense has been absolutely terrible the last two games, averaging 5.5 points per contest. The Dolphins will be coming off of a 31-3 thrashing of Kansas City and looking to remove themselves from the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.
The Redskins may make the move back to Grossman, they may not. They will, however, have to do something because 303 total yards and three turnovers won’t have them contending anytime soon.
There were two bright spots though. The MVP of the team so far has to be Sav Rocca. He’s continued to punt beautifully and Graham Gano threw his hat into contention with a franchise record 59 yard field goal. Running back Roy Helu also played well with a franchise-record 14 receptions for 105 yards. Helu did have a very costly fumble at the end of the first half.
