Time to head north of the border, aye?
The Redskins will travel to Toronto on Sunday to take on the 4-2 Buffalo Bills. Buffalo is rested and ready, especially after witnessing the 33 points Carolina put on this Redskins defense. It’s easy to take the pessimistic approach and talk about how Fred Jackson should run through our 17th ranked rush defense. You could also talk about the mounting pile of injuries including several starters on the offensive side of the ball. I’m not going to regurgitate anything you didn’t already know about this team.
Here’s what you may not know.
You may not know just how terrible Buffalo’s defense is. Last week we went against a then 8th ranked pass defense and a terrible run defense. This week, we get a team that can’t stop anybody. The Buffalo Bills are 30th, yes 30th, against the pass and the run this season. That’s two spots from dead last. They allow almost 100 yards and one touchdown more per-game than this Redskins defense. The Bills have given up 1,300 yards passing in their last four games combined. There is no reason for John Beck not to have success versus this secondary. The issue of this game will more than likely be the Redskins defense having to stop another powerful offense.
The Redskins are still faring pretty well against that pass, allowing just 218 yards per game. The issue for this team will be stopping Fred Jackson who has about 600 yards and six touchdowns through six games. The Bills offense will be their primary defense for this contest. If the Redskins only have about two or three drives a quarter, the chances of the amount of points necessary to win is minimal. Washington will hopefully have safety O.J. Atogwe back for this contest as he was out with a knee injury last week.
