Redskins top Bucs but which players helped or hurt thier cause

John Beck had his poorest performance of the preseason tonight.  He was 10-21, a tad over 100 yards and one interception.  He looked indecisive at times and was not a sharp as he had been in his previous two performances.  Nonetheless, the offense moved under his command.

But as Beck was working on fine tuning his game in hopes of becoming the Week 1 starter there were other players who needed a good showing that are on the verge of being cut or actually making this team.

Helped their cause:

Dante Stallworth – Tonight he showed that on special teams and offense he can still contribute.  He has vertean experience and that clutch touchdown certainlyy made things harder for the coaches.

Evan Royster – Had limited action and certainly looked like he was going to have a bad night after his early fumble.  However he played through it and showed why he can be an asset to the team.  I don’t think he makes the 53-man roster, but the Redskins will find a way to keep him for sure.

Hurt their cause:

Reggie Jones – No one worked harder and played harder, but when it counted it just didn’t show.  I am a big fan of his and am rooting for him but he got beat tonight, missed tackles including the long touchdown to Gant that should not have happened and had a PI call.  I wish him the best but this looks to be a long shot.

Niles Paul – Great talent but did not show enough. Period.
