Assessing the Redskins success or failure at this point is foolish

For those of you who are campaigning for “Suck for Luck” you have as much football knowledge as does a native resident of Chile.  If you think the Redskins are going to soar and win under the radar and cruise into the playoffs, you need to put down the pipe. Why the Redskins will not suck, intentionally This is too easy…the coaching staff wants to stay employed.  Going 3-13 or 2-14 does nothing but get Mike Shanahan fired, and then what?  Draft Andrew Luck to play for a horrible team, perpetually rebuilding?  No.  This team will be competitive.  Whether they [...]

Every now and then a sports fan’s significant other displays some form of sports knowledge that leaves them truly proud.  I had one of these moments over the past weekend while on a trip to Florida.  My wife is not the biggest Redskins fan.  She grew up in South Florida and as a result is a Dolphins fan.  That doesn’t stop her from trying to be a Redskins fan though, as it has become a rather significant part of her life.  The proud moment came while I was bowling with her and her family.  After [...]

Redskins young corners look to take advantage of Buchanan’s suspension

AUTHOR: | IN: Feature Commentary | COMMENTS: None Yet

Philip Buchanan will be suspended for the Redskins first four games, including the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys. The reasons for this is suspension are currently unknown, but as this happens look for young defensive backs to make their mark on the 53-man roster. Grant Paulsen identified, and I agree, that Reggie Jones looks to be making moves to make the 53 man roster. DeAngelo Hall and Josh Wilson are locks to make the team. With Buchanan unavailable, Kevin Barnes is projected to be in the running to be the nickel. Look for Jones to complete with four year [...]

Redskins early NFC sleeper favorite…??

AUTHOR: | IN: A Closer Look, NFC East, Opinion, Redskins | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

While everyone is talking about the Eagles shopping spree, the Packers reloaded, etc. nobody is paying any attention to the teams not expected to win. If you look at the early part of the Redskins schedule, there is no reason why they can’t go into the trade deadline at 4-0 and sitting at the top of the NFC. Take a look: Week 1- Giants Week 2- Cardinals Week 3- @Cowboys Week4- @Rams Week 5- BYE Week 6- Eagles Playing the Giants week 1 while everyone is still kind of rusty is not a bad thing. Very winnable game here. Followed [...]

Redskins shockingly release another veteran

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Feature Commentary, In The News | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Redskins kicked off their Fan Appreciation Day by announcing that third year linebacker, Robert Henson had been released. The news broke as Henson himself tweeted it this morning. Henson entered camp looking to battle Perry Riley for the position. He had not been able to practice after starting the preseason on the PUP list. When the Redskins re-signed last year’s Jack linebacker incumbent, Rocky McIntosh, it was certain Henson’s road to the starting line-up would be more difficult, but no one could have foreseen a release this early in camp.

More Reciever Talk, Camp Notes

As a follow-up to Ryan’s previous post about Malcolm Kelly and Brandon Banks being on the bubble, I certainly agree with the notion that both players are in danger of losing their spots on the 53 man roster. For the record, no that is not a picture of me above, yet I did feel the need to snap a quick photo of this gentleman’s #14 converted Brad Johnson jersey at yesterday’s 4:00 open practice. (For those in the dark, John Beck will be wearing Malcom Kelly’s #12 this year; Kelly has switched to #14). As of today I’d say Brandon [...]

Two Redskins recievers look to be on the early bubble

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Feature Commentary | COMMENTS: None Yet

Malcolm Kelly came into camp saying he was 100% and ready to go.  Likewise, Brandon Banks came into camp ready to prove his rookie season was no fluke, his off the field issues were behind him, and he could contribute as a wide receiver.  At the moment, both will be doing nothing at all as they are not practice this morning. Yesterday, Malcolm Kelly suffered what appeared to be foot injury and was attended to by the staff on the field.  Meanwhile, Brandon Banks has been on the sidelines not taking any work and not even having a helmet.  This [...]
