Redskins should AT LEAST consider trade for Kyle Orton

ESPN’s John Clayton is reporting that the Miami Dolphins are going to sign QB Matt Moore, thus this makes Kyle Orton’s decent into Miami all but a distant memory.

The Redskins are current in camp with two quarterbacks: John Beck and Ben Chappell.  Kellen Clemmens, formely of the New York Jets, cannot yet participate and Rex Grossman is an unsigned free agent.  That said, now is the time to explore looking to get Kyle Orton.

Kyle Orton was Rex Grossman’s understudy in Chicago, but has out-shined him since.  In Orton’s last two seasons with the Broncos, he passed for 3,802 and 3,652 yards respectively.  He also had a passer rating over 86% in each.  As a passer, he may be able to give the Redskins what they need.  A quarterback with recent success to compete in camp.  None of which any of the quarterbacks signed, or unsigned have.

Orton will of course be subject to learning a new offense.   That will also be key as we now know this current regime wants its QB to be fully able to grasp this system, this offense.

Of course, we have heard nothing definitive about Orton comin here.  We did hear however that Kyle Shanahan was not a practice this morning but was working inside, presumably on free agency related matters.  Its only a matter of time until Orton’s name is paired with the Washington Redskins.
