Rich Tandler writes this in regards to the Redskins current running back situation:
The Washington Redskins currently have eight running backs on the roster. Ryan Torain was the team’s leading rusher last year and is the presumed starter going into training camp. Keiland Williams started three games when Torain was out injured and he did a nice job as the third-down back. James Davis saw some game action during the season and Andre Brown and Chad Simpson both spent some time on the 53-man roster. Shawnbrey McNeal has bounced around with a few teams without ever getting into a game and Evan Royster and Roy Helu were picked in the draft.
Though Ryan Torain is likely the presumed starter heading into eventual training camp, there is no telling which direction Mike Shanahan will go with this committee. We may be in for a surprise in regards to who they keep and who is let go.
