Confused football/hockey fan might suffer from demensia

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

In a random musing I present something that I saw which was so ludicrous I could not believe it to be possible.  Those of us who live or work near Washington, DC, are used to seeing strange sights.  I admit, at times it seems as if though nothing in this region surprises me, but then I witness something as I did today which just totally blows my sense of reality straight into the stratosphere.  Am I being a tad bit melodramatic?  Of course I am.  Is there a distinct lack of news-worthy Redskins rumors to report?  Indeed.  So if like [...]

For Redskins, Moss and/or Banks may be on the bubble

AUTHOR: | IN: Feature Commentary, In The News, NFC East | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Santana Moss has electrified Redskin fans for almost seven seasons, meanwhile Brandon Banks has been the speedy darling since his punt return for a touchdown in a preseason game vs. the Buffalo Bills.  However, with the newfound depth at wide receiver, one of them (or both) may be out. The smart Redskins fan says, keep Moss to help train and groom the young wide outs.   After him, the most experienced receiver is Anthony Armstrong with a hair above 800 yards.  The immediate response to Moss’s departure will be that there will be no veterans on the team that can help [...]

Redskins Defensive Coordinator Bashes Albert Haynesworth

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Feature Commentary, In The News, NFC East | COMMENTS: None Yet

So the news today was Jim Hasslett went on a St. Louis radio station and blasted Albert Haynesworth.  His exact statements revolved around how Haynesworth was not motivated to do anything and even had to be reminded to put away his phone during meetings. Another devaluation of the humongous defensive lineman who can’t seem to get motivated to do anything?  No.  Why you ask, because simply he cannot be anymore devalued than he is now. Look, for all your wishful thinkers wanting a trade for value.  That’s great and awfully cute of you, but it ain’t happening! Haynesworth showed last [...]

Why the Redskins are taking seats away from you

AUTHOR: | IN: Feature Commentary, In The News, NFC East | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Until the Dallas Cowboys opened their new stadium in 2009, the Redskins had the largest capacity stadium in the league – seating approximately 91,000.  Now it is said that they are removing anywhere between 4,000-10,000 seats, based on permit regulations.  The seats being removed are the seats in the upper-bowl area above each endzone.  These seats are I like to call them are affordable. I am a fan who has always sat in the bleeders.  Even when I could afford to sit lower, I have gone for the bargain and sat with the common folk.  The die-hard fans who like [...]

Party On

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

For those of you who may have seen large cranes and construction equipment outside of FedEx field recently,  it is because the team has decided to remove some of the seats in the upper level behind each endzone to add “party decks” like those you may have noticed at many of the newer NFL stadiums, and perhaps more familiarly at Nationals Park downtown. The multi-million dollar project is expected to be complete prior to the 2012 season. I know many fans, as well as myself certainly enjoyed last offseason’s FedEx renovation of adding the 2 very large HD jumbo-screens [...]

Did Dan Snyder really stay out of Joe Gibbs’ way?

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Draft, Feature Commentary | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Dan Steinberg of the DC Sports Bog chronicled a piece that revolved around Dan Snyder’s claims that he was never involved with football matters when Joe Gibbs was here. Snyder says: “You know what’s interesting is there’s a little bit of a misperception here. When Joe Gibbs was here for over four seasons, nobody came to talk to me about football, and the same thing now. It was very similar between Mike Shanahan and Joe Gibbs, that they take command of the football team, and I love that. I mean, for me it’s easy. I don’t want to be involved. [...]

Terrell Davis feels coaching isn’t for him

AUTHOR: | IN: Feature Commentary | COMMENTS: None Yet

Terrell Davis, a coaching intern with the Redskins last summer, has decided that coaching may not be his strong suit. Via Pro Football Talk: Don’t look for Terrell Davis to follow the Rod Woodson route from NFL Network to coaching intern to full-time NFL coach. Davis has done the first two legs of the journey, but an internship with his old boss Mike Shanahan last summer made him realize that the life of the NFL coach wasn’t for him.  Davis was asked by a reader in the Denver Post if he’d ever re-join the Broncos. “Not as a coach, definitely not as [...]

Should Santana Moss remain a Redskin?

AUTHOR: | IN: Feature Commentary | COMMENTS: None Yet

Santana Moss has been one of the most productive Redskins in recent memory. However are the Redskins in a position to comfortably move on without him? Moss, now 32, had one of his most productive seasons last year with the club. But with up and coming talent like Anthony Armstrong and rookies lIke Leonard Hankerson, what kind of role can he play? He can play the slot but he does not want to consider himself just a slot receiver but one would assume that where he would be used. I personally think he can thrive in that role with occasional [...]
