In a random musing I present something that I saw which was so ludicrous I could not believe it to be possible. Those of us who live or work near Washington, DC, are used to seeing strange sights. I admit, at times it seems as if though nothing in this region surprises me, but then I witness something as I did today which just totally blows my sense of reality straight into the stratosphere. Am I being a tad bit melodramatic? Of course I am. Is there a distinct lack of news-worthy Redskins rumors to report? Indeed. So if like me, you too are bored, feel free to read on to my anti-climatic discovery which I have hyped up well beyond what I should have. Or if you rather save few precious seconds of your life, as well as the brain power necessary to read it, by all means, you can stop.
As I was walking to my bus today, en route to Washington, DC, an SUV drove by me. This SUV had three gigantic magnetic team emblems attached to its rear door. Now, one would suspect that the three teams would have a relation to each other. Let us say for example, the Orioles, Ravens and Wizards. That is understandable. However, this offending vehicle had the following: Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Capitols, all in 2 foot tall glory. Far be it from me to call the driver crazy or even confused, but I just need to point it out.
I can understand one of those football teams paired with the Capitols, but the Steelers and the Cowboys, together? It’s almost as if said driver is saying “hey, my team (the Cowboys) sucks, so I’m showing support for a winning team (Steelers). How they decided they needed to be a Capitols fan as well, I don’t understand. Really, if you are a Steelers fan, you are a Penguins fan. You hate the Capitols. If you are a Cowboys fan, you hate the Capitols because you hate the Redskins. I really have no explanation for this other than the driver wanted to play a practical joke on all of us, and laughs with pleasure as he drives mockingly around the DC metro area. And if you have actually read this far, I will consider myself lucky and close by begging you not to think I am insane. But then again, you have to be to live in this area and be a Redskins fan. Pray for Redskins news.
