Grading the Draft: Washington Redskins select Jarvis Jenkins 43rd overall

The Redskins used their second round pick to select Jarvis Jenkins who is to play defensive tackle.

Use of the pick: A

There was much talk that the Redskins would use their pick and perhaps select an offensive player.  Some thought they would select a quarterback.  Instead the filled a need which is the defensive line.

Player selected: B

Though he may be best suited for nose tackle, which they badly need, he may be playing defensive end.  When asked what preference of technique he would be playing, he seemed to be excited for both two and three gap techniques.

In any case, his size and strength should create a great push up front for his linebackers behind him.

Day one starter? In one one, yes.

Overall draft grade: B+
