A Few that Jump the Page At First Glance . . . As we all know by now, the NFL released the full 2011 schedule Tuesday night. (See the Redskins schedule here). Last year the schedule was released just before the draft so I was a little surprised to hear it would come out a full week earlier this year. As draft day nears, it becomes more and more confusing to which way the draft will go. Teams begin interviewing prospects, discussing potential trades, trying to raise the value of their current picks to draw interest from teams wanting to trade up to draft a specific prospect. The draft from the Redskins perspective should be pretty simple with their early picks this year; Draft offense!! The Redskins have always had problems with becoming a consistent offensive threat to the league. The prevailing opinion around Redskins Nation (I hate that term, by the way. How about if we shorten it to Skins-ation? No? Forget it, we’ll go with RN for now) seems to be that the team should trade down from the Number 10 spot in the upcoming draft, recoup as many Second Round picks as possible and fill the numerous holes on both sides of the ball. Mike Florio discussed the current feelings on the NFL regular season schedule. Our semi-educated guess is that fans realize it’s meaningless to even think about the slate of games absent a firm guarantee that the slate of games will be played.  Indeed, the announcement of the preseason schedule brought shrugs and smirks, given that at this point it seems to be a foregone conclusion that August will conclude with no preseason games being played.
