With a unit consisting of 3 sub-30 year old top ten picks, the defensive backfield seems like it should be a strong point of the Redskins defense.  Unfortunately, it was just the opposite last year with the unit ranking 1 spot away from dead last in the entire NFL.  To make things worse, Carlos Rogers will become a free agent on March 1.  With an average set of hands, Rogers would most likely be one of the top cornerbacks in the league.  Even with his sometimes comically bad set of hands, he has still been a very solid corner back [...]

Going into this year, one of the potentially brightest spots for the Redskins transition to a new 3-4 defense was the supposed emergence of Kareem Moore as a free safety.  The move would allow Laron Landry to move to his more natural position at strong safety and help him avoid some of the coverage mistakes of 2009.   That it did, and Landry was having the best year of his young career before it was derailed by an Achilles injury.  However, the skins remain desperately missing Sean Taylor in the secondary as Kareem Moore hardly proved to be a viable replacement [...]

Only one thing was left as certain towards the end of the Redskins season, and that was that all-pro quarterback Donovan McNabb had a falling-out with management and was benched in favor of Rex Grossman.  At this point, it is highly likely, though not a certainty that McNabb will be headed out the door.  The treatment and likely departure of McNabb has baffled if not piqued the minds of many, and has left much speculation about the upcoming draft.  It would seem self-evident that to replace McNabb, the Redskins will take a quarterback in the first round of the draft.  [...]

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that sources confirmed Stanford HC Jim Harbaugh is headed to San Francisco to become the 49ers new head coach. The deal is reported as being worth $25 million over 5 years. Harbaugh had flown down to Miami and spoke with the Dolphins earlier this week.
