RB over OG, C, and WR? Don't wanna give Torain a chance? Coach won't pick up a RB before our fifth rounder I would hope. I agree we can't spend another #1 on a DB, but it will become a need if we miss out on Rogers and the other FA. I root for Barnes, but he has not proven to be the answer.

More of a stopgap, I'm saying it's a better option that what's behind him by far. With so many holes we can't fix everything in one year. Carlos is not a great corner in the league but he is a considerable upgrade over Barnes and certainly Buchanon. If we can bring in a FA that's great, I mentioned they are all upgrades, but there are also issues with all of the ones mentioned. Champ is old, probably better suited to play FS at this point, and he probably hates Snyder. Asomugha is great is the man coverage system in Oakland (the one Dhall struggled in). I think it would transfer here because he is so talented but is it worth the risk to pluck him out of what he is great at and throw him into something completely different? Cromartie is an upgrade but I can't imagine him leaving the Jets, i guess we can hope. Like I said, if we lose Rogers AND don't pick up a FA we are in trouble. There is no way the secondary is not worse off in that scenario. There are so many holes to fill that we don't want another one to pop up. Barnes killed Jahvid Best at MD, which is what I think you were referring to with the Jarvis Green comment and it was awesome. I saw it in person and the whole stadium went nuts. But Barnes has not, despite what you guys think, proven himself at all. He was a Cerrato reach and for all we know is not the answer opposite Dhall. There is a reason he has not been able to get on the field in the past two years. Why downgrade if we can keep Rogers around for the right price. Why not bring someone young in with a late pick if we see some potential?

Wait a second ... Are you trying to tell us that Carlos is the answer, or just another finger in the dike? Nnamdi Asomugha, and Antonio Cromartie would be vastly superior upgrades out of FA! And when Hall was with Asomugha in Oakland, don't you think that some of D Hall's problem was the defensive scheme he was in? What? Good, and good don't mix very well?! Is that what you're trying to say?! And what about Cromartie? He's very good. Does he doom our defensive scheme too?! No my friend ... You place way too much emphasis on what once was, and not the reasons it was that way! And as for Champ ... He's been here, and we've done that! Champ's time has come and gone. One, maybe two seasons he would likely be done! Why pay big bucks for a guy who wasn't happy here in the first place?
The answer isn't in the draft this year either. We have glaring needs that demand attention more than CB, and if we can't sign a FA, what was the point in drafting Barnes anyway, if it wasn't to groom him to take over someday? If we can't get a marquee CB in the FA, we have Barnes to give the nod to! As I recall, he did pretty well at UMD ... Just ask Jarvis Green! He can fill that spot just fine!
