WASHINGTON—January 06, 2010—The owners of the Redskins, Capitals, Wizards, Nationals, and D.C. United will share what they do–and don’t do–to make their franchises successful at a breakfast forum titled “Scoring Big: The Business of Sports.” The event will take place on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at The Washington Post and will be streamed live at www.washingtonpostlive.com beginning at 8:45am.
Dan Snyder, owner of the Redskins; Ted Leonsis, owner of the Capitals, Wizards, and Mystics; Robert Tanenbaum and Marla Lerner Tanenbaum, owners of the Nationals; and Will Chang, owner of D.C. United and the San Francisco Giants will discuss the best practices for navigating an ever-changing business world in front of an audience including some of Post 200’s business leaders.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to host this unique gathering,” said Dan Beyers, editor of Capital Business, The Washington Post’s local business weekly. “Rarely do you get all the region’s team owners together, let alone such a cross-section of top executives from the area’s business community. It should make for a stimulating conversation.”
“The Post is the leader in sports coverage in the D.C. area,” said Matthew Vita, Sports Editor for The Washington Post. “This will give people in the region an opportunity to hear directly from the men and women behind the region’s major sports franchises.”
Readers may submit questions for the panelists and watch the forum live online by visiting www.washingtonpostlive.com.
Mary Jordan, editor of Washington Post Live, will moderate the conversation.
Washington Post Live, the conference division of The Washington Post, and Capital Business, which does an annual ranking of the area’s top 200 companies, along with the Greater Washington Board of Trade will jointly host this panel discussion.
