Why there won’t be a training camp lockout this year.

AUTHOR: | IN: Feature Commentary | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

I took a few weeks off from posting due to personal stuff.  But believe me, my interest in the Redskins this year is huge.  Maybe it shouldn’t be, given a 6 and 10 season on top of a 4 and 12 season.  I believe the ‘Skins will be true contenders in 2012, which means they’ll show measurable improvement in 2011.  If the latter doesn’t happen, then I’m dead wrong about 2012 .  As I always do, I’ll make that determination in October.  I never judge how a team’s season is likely to go until after its 4th game.  Too many [...]

What should the Skins do with the 10th pick in the draft?

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

Every year the so called “experts” roll out their mock drafts and try to predict what each team will do in the draft and like most people I end up reading about a thousand different mock drafts each year….. Whether it be Gabbert, Newton, Locker or Mallett it seems that many have come to the same conclusion the Redskins will be taking a quarterback with the 10th overall pick of the first round. Is quarterback a position of concern for the Redskins? Yes Is it the only position of concern for the Redskins? No Some people talk as if drafting [...]

Williams may have a shot in Tennesee

AUTHOR: | IN: Feature Commentary | COMMENTS: None Yet

Three years after many considered him to become Joe Gibbs’s successor in Washington,  Gregg Williams may once again return to a place he once called home. With the recent departure of Jeff Fisher, after 17 years as head coach, it appears that Williams would be interested in the job if he is considered a candidate. Although Williams has not been identified as an official candidate for the Titans job, he does have relationships with Titans owner Bud Adams and some of the current coaching staff and was coordinator for the Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV. But Williams, who served as [...]

Today in Redskins history 1/28/1969

Vince Lombardi had resigned as head coach of the Green Bay Packers.  He currently served in an executive role as a General Manager; however he distanced himself from football decisions.  “The Pope” as he was known, felt it disrespectful to engage the team and usurp power from new head coach Phil Bengston.  The team needed one head coach to lead, not two.  Nor did he believe it would be fair to Bengston to be constantly looking over his shoulder.  Bengston had been Lombardi’s top assistant and defensive coach throughout his tenure.

Breaking News: Jeff Fisher and Titans parting ways

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Sports Illustrated is reporting that Jeff Fisher and the Tennessee Titans are preparing to part ways. After the in season feud with Vince Young, Fishers future with the team appeared to be in doubt. However, when the team announced that Young would be released earlier this month, Fishers future with the Titans seemed secure. What does this mean for Vince Young? Will he now be a Titan next year?

5 things the Redskins can and must learn from the Packers and Steelers

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

The Super Bowl is coming up in less than two weeks and there are so many things to be envious of as a Redskins fan.  Ben Roethlisberger looks for a chance to redeem his off field issues and cement himself as one of the top QBs in the NFL with a 3rd championship ring, while Aaron Rodgers looks to lead the high flying Packers and capture his first, jumpstarting his journey to be the best QB in the league.  On top of that the #2 Steelers defense, led by Troy Polomalu faces off against the #5 packers defense led by [...]
