Believe it or not, Fox wants more viewers to see the Redskins play the Giants. Maybe the network execs love this year’s home uniforms. Maybe they really dig the cheerleaders. Oh wait, this has nothing to do with the ‘Skins, except for the fact they can knock the Giants out of the playoffs. That would be sweet, You know what else will be sweet – ending with a better record than Dallas, as meaningless as that is to the bottom line.
I noticed an interesting stat. The Eagles, this year’s NFC East champions, are 4 – 1 in the division. New York, Washington, and Dallas are 2-3 in the division. Something else that stood out to me – the Eagles and Giants protected their home turfs. While the Eagles have won 4 of 6 at The Linc and the Giants have won 5 of 8, the Redskins and Cowboys have only won twice at home. Joe Gibbs used to stress the importance of winning on your turf. Not doing so was a sign you wouldn’t go far in the playoffs, in the unlikely event you made the playoffs.
Washington will have lots of company at the 4:15 slot. Fox will air four games at that time; CBS will air three. I’ll definitely be somewhere where I can watch the Cowboys lose to the Beagles while I watch the ‘Skins defeat the G-strings.
