Although We’ve Come to The End of The Road…
The Redskins Need to Do Brett Favre a Favor…
…and convince him that it is time to go home, why won’t you just go home Brett? This has to be Brett Favre’s worst season ever, period. It’s not just the on the field struggles, the broken ankle, the 3-7 record, and the stimulation of the coaching change. It’s not just coming back for one final run to the super bowl and having those hopes shattered. It’s the charade that was put on prior to the season, the 1 million dollars earned every game, the off the field picture scandal, and the whole saga that we have endured all over the sports media landscape [...]
By: Sean Mathews How watching the sad-sack Detroit Lions became one of the most endearing Thanksgiving traditions is a secret which is more than likely buried deep within the vaults of a military-guarded secret facility. The Lions have now become as synonymous with pumpkin pie on a late November Thursday as they have become with losing, both of which are now tradition. It would be unwise to discount the Lions though, and they could play left-over green bean casserole spoiler to the New England Patriots. Though their records are the opposite of each other, the Pats at 8-2 and the [...]
Three Years Later, We Remember Sean Taylor
It was three years ago, this Saturday. Redskins safety Sean Taylor was at his home in Miami with girlfriend Jackie Garcia and their 18 month old daughter recovering from a sprained MCL he sustained against the Eagles. The couple heard a loud noise coming from inside the house. As Taylor grabbed the knife he kept in near his bed a man broke through their bedroom door and fired two shots. One shot missed both Taylor and his girlfriend, the second changed the future of the Taylor family and the Redskins franchise forever.
For Favre, Pride still matters
Six. That’s how many games quarterback Brett Favre has left in him. After 299 regular season games with the Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings, he only has six remaining until he likley hangs up the cleats for good. There is no doubt that if Favre could see into the future he would have opted out of a 20th year as a professional quarterback. An avalanche of scrutiny would have been avoided. It’s quite possible he may have avoided his recent “Sexting” controversy entirely. Perhaps the media would have let him leave the game in peace had [...]
With a narrow yet impressive win against the Titans in week 11 the Skins have managed to keep their playoff hopes alive for at least another week. However though like their win in week 11 they are holding on by a thread and at this point a loss would more than likely shatter any hope or chance they have of making the playoffs…. So lets break down how the NFC stands at this point NFC East- Eagles 7 and 3, Giants 6 and 4, Redskins 5 and 5, Cowboys 3 and 7 NFC North- Bears 7 and 3, Packers 7 [...]
Portis on IR, done for the season
The Redskins give thanks
By: Sean Mathews As Thanksgiving comes to pass, I have much to be thankful for in my personal life. In the world of NFL football and the within the Redskins nation, there are certain things I am thankful for as well. I am definitely thankful the Redskins beat the Titans keeping scant playoff hopes alive for another week. I am also thankful that despite numerous injuries, the Redskins have managed to persevere. As closet pessimists through years of sub-par performance, I think us Skins fans tend to ignore the good in spite of it all. There have indeed been many [...]
Jeter the Red Sox? The story of displaced NFL players
For Washington, The Time is Now
The Vikings are reeling. After the beat down they took against Green Bay, who wouldn’t be? Minnesota is 3-7 and in 3rd place in the NFC North with only the Detroit Lions behind them. This week I had a conversation with Dan Zinski, the lead writer for The Viking Age - a blog covering the Minnesota Vikings. We discussed issues ranging from coaching changes to quarterback play and more. Here’s what we covered on Tuesday.
